What happens if you fail a unit at UWA? ›

If you have failed a unit you will need to adjust your study plan to complete your course. This may extend the time needed to complete your course or you may be able to make up the failed unit by taking a unit during the UWA Summer School or another non-standard teaching period.

Failed Component (FC) is a component that a student must pass in order to obtain an overall pass in a unit. final grade means the letter code assigned to indicate the level of a student's academic performance in a unit.

You will receive a formal notification of the outcome of your application within three to six weeks of UWA receiving a complete application.

How common is it to fail a uni subject? It's actually more common than you might think, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about. In a large study of Australian undergraduate students, 40% revealed they'd failed at least one subject at the time they were surveyed.

As a result, failing a course can significantly lower your GPA, especially if it is worth several credits. For example, if you have a 3.5 GPA and fail a 4-credit course, your GPA will drop to 3.08. The exact impact on your GPA will depend on your overall academic record and the number of credits you have completed.

First Class Honours (Honours I): 6.20–7.00 GPA. Second Class Honours, Division A: (Honours IIA): 5.65–6.199 GPA. Second Class Honours, Division B: (Honours IIB): 5.00 to 5.649 GPA. Third Class Honours (Honours III): Less than 5.00 GPA.

You must attend no less than 80% of your classes of your enrolment (identified on your CoE). Your teachers will check your attendance for every session, which is twice daily Monday to Fridays. Attendance records will be entered weekly into the UWA CELT Student Management system.

Challenges of Getting Into UWA

November–April: Notification of Admission and Scholarship Decisions. Don't worry if you don't hear from us right away. (2) If a student is permitted to repeat a unit, the unit is credited only once towards their course.

A failure will prevent admission to an honors program in the following year and will reduce your chances of future admission to a professional school. If you have more than 6.0 failures, you will be required to withdraw for at least one year. You are allowed to repeat a passed course once and a failed course twice.

Each failed course may be repeated only once. A student may receive financial aid even when repeatedly failing the same course.

Students who fail a subject for the third time are liable for this sanction. It results in the exclusion from further enrolment in the subject. You must contact your faculty for enrolment advice.
