Texans sure do know how to celebrate Independence Day, and this year's activities are bound to be epic.

Because the holiday falls on a Thursday this year, festivities to celebrate the country's birthday are planned as soon as this weekend and leading up to the Fourth of July.

Here's a breakdown of some events around Texas, arranged by date. This is not an exhaustive list, so there undoubtedly are more events near you.

Wilmer's Sparks Fireworks Show

When and where: 6 to 9:45 p.m. June 28th, 201 North Interstate 45

This fourth annual celebration in this Dallas suburb will feature food trucks, a foam cannon, a face painter, a giant human hamster ball racetrack, bubble machine, photo backdrop — and, of course, a fireworks show.

Light-Up Arlington: VIP & Reserved Fireworks, Chicken and a Chair

When and where: 6 to 10:30 p.m. June 29, Arlington Music Hall, 224 N. Center St., in downtown Arlington

Although the fireworks show — beginning at 9:50 p.m. — is free, there are a couple ways to enjoy the festivities and live music. Those who wish can reserve "Chicken and a Chair," which includes a VIP seat to watch the fireworks show as well as a Babe's Chicken dinner. Another section of seats will offer free water and kids' activities.

Allen 4th of July Celebration

When and where: 5 p.m. June 29, Celebration Park, 701 N. Angel Parkway

The city of Allen will host an event that includes live music by Infinite Journey and Straight Tequila Night, food trucks and a fireworks show. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Forney's Independence Day Celebration

When and where: 6 to 10 p.m. June 29, Forney Community Park, 241 S. FM 548

This is a free event that will include food trucks, live music, bounce houses and a fireworks show, which will start at 9:30 p.m. at the north side of the park.

Brazoria County Freedom Fireworks

When and where: 9:20 p.m. June 29, Brazoria Fairgrounds, 901 S. Downing

The city of Angleton has organized a fireworks show to be synchronized with patriotic music. The parking lot will provide a great view of the display.

Round Rock Express and Independence Day Celebration

When and where: 6:35 p.m. July 3, Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd.

The Round Rock Express baseball team will be playing the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. The first pitch is at 6:35 p.m., and there will be a postgame fireworks show coordinated with patriotic music. Fans will also be allowed to run the bases following the fireworks.

Roanoke's All American Fireworks & Festival

When and where: 5 to 10 p.m. July 3, Roanoke City Hall Plaza, 500 S. Oak St.

The city of Roanoke is hosting a variety of activities such as live music, a free kids zone, a pie-eating competition and a fireworks show. The Emerald City Band will perform at 8 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 9:15 p.m.

McKinney's Red, White and BOOM!

When and where: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4, downtown McKinney

The city of McKinney is pulling out all the stops on Independence Day, with festivities spanning 12 hours. The Hometown Parade begins at 10 a.m., followed by the Yankee Doodle Block Party at 11 a.m. A concert and fireworks display is scheduled later, and food and kids' activities will also be available. Two back-to-back concerts will begin at 6 p.m., and the fireworks show starts at 9:45 p.m.

Fort Worth's Fourth

When and where: 5 p.m. July 4, Panther Island Pavilion, 395 Purcey St.

Admission is free for the DFW Independence Day Celebration, which will feature festival food, kids' activities and a fireworks display at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Longview's Fireworks and Freedom Celebration

The city of Longview is hosting a Fourth of July celebration with a free outdoor concert featuring soul-blues rocker Tommy Castro & the Painkillers. Other activities include a car show, petting zoo, cornhole tournament and more.

Kyle's Independence Day Celebration Fireworks Show
