Ascendant Challenge - Destiny 2 Guide - IGN (2024)

Ascendant Challenges are weekly bounties in Destiny 2: Forsaken that can be acquired from Petra Venj in the Dreaming City and reward players with Powerful Gearand Dark Fragments.

Ascendant Challenges can be accessed from portals in the Dreaming City which open every week. If you die when doing an Ascendant Challenge, you will be kicked out of the Realm and sent back to the Dreaming City and then have to platform your way back to the portal.

In order to participate in an Ascendant Challenge, players will need a Tincture of Queensfoil. You will need Queensfoil to see the portal and complete the challenge. Remember, this consumable lasts 30 minutes.

Queensfoil can drop from Public Events, Chests, Patrols and the Blind Well in the Dreaming City. There is a secret vendor, which is actually an Ahamkara skull named Huginn, in Harbinger's Seclude that will let you buy 1 Queensfoil for 50 Baryon Boughs.

The CHARACTER ICON on the maps below indicates where the Ascendant portals are for that particular week.

Weekly AscendantChallenges

Week 8 (Same as Week 2) -FORFEITSHRINE

You'll spawn into an arena right in the beginning. You have to defeat 3 large Knights using a certain mechanic.

First, you'll have to collect 3 orbs spread around the area and slam them in the center. Be sure to clear the area before you pick up your orb.

A bunch of Taken Phalanx will spawn in the center before you slam an orb. Don't bother attacking them, just slam the orb.

After slamming all 3 orbs, a giant rift of Light will appear in the center which quickly regenerates abilities. Be sure to head to the middle frequently to get your Super back right away.

Defeat all enemies to clear the area and focus on damaging the Knights. It helps to climb up the surrounding trees for cover or to attack enemies from a distance.

week 7 (Ascendant challenge order restarts) - ouroborea

In the area, you should see large Knights that look a lot like Alak-Hul from Destiny 1. Do not shoot these Knights during this entire challenge, just avoid them.

In the dark surrounding area, find 4 blights and bring them down.

Then head to the center and shoot down all the Void crystals. Shotguns work best here.

Also, you'll have to run around a lot to avoid getting hit by the Knights.

WEEK 6 - Cimerrian Garrison

This week's Ascendant Challenge portal is behind the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector's chest.

This one is sort of a race. You need fight and jump your way to the boss fight arena while 3 giant Knights chase after you. You can make the Knights disappear by damaging them, but it is best to just run.

You will also have spots on the ground and wall that try to blow you off the map.

For the boss fight, you'll have 1 Knight to kill. It's better to use shotguns here since the arena is small. Also, watch out for the Shriekers that spawn because they will deal a ton of damage.

Week 5 - Agonarch abyss

Follow the spark all the way down towards the arena. It will be difficult to see the platforms so look twice before you jump. Put on a jump on that will let you go farther since some platforms will be a bit difficult to reach.

Once you reach the arena, kill the 2 Wizards. You don't need to remove the blights.

Also, if you have the Wish-Ender bow, you can destroy the Taken egg-shaped rocks in this Ascendant Challenge.

Week 4 - keep of honed edges

You can find this Ascendant Challenge in the Harbringer's Seclude area above the statue in the balcony.

When you spawn into the Ascendant Realm, platform your way towards to temple area.

Kill the Wizards first, then grab the Hive sword in the center of the 3 Knights. A lot of enemies will spawn so it is best to have another person with you.

The Knights can only be killed with that sword, but the Knights will strike back when you get close. Make sure to run or hide to regenerate your health before you try to defeat a Knight.

Clearing the area of other enemies is very important, they will do a lot of damage.

After killing the Knights, follow Toland towards the portal in the distance. This is another jumping puzzle, but the platforms will disappear so run quickly.

A chest will spawn on the platform below to portal. (Remember to bring the sword with you.)

Week 3 - shattered ruins

This challenge is straightforward since you won't have to use any mechanics.

Once you go through the portal, you'll have to make your way up the giant broken staircase. Each platform in the jumping puzzle has an exploding orb and Taken enemies may snipe at you.

Once you reach the top, all you have to do is defeat the Taken Phalanx named Val Eralu, The Obedient.
